Spic and Span

“Shakes It Up”

Traditionally, powder cleansing products have been sold in straight-sided cardboard containers with a stock metal sifter end cap. Spic and Span came to TricorBraun Design wanting to shake it up a bit – the category that is.

Starting with the container itself, we designed a custom round bottle with a recessed deco panel to protect the shrink sleeve label. The inset panel also gave the brand something few others had done – something other than a straight sided round bottle. By using an HDPE bottle, the brand now has a more premium feel instead of the standard cardboard tube.

But the big breakthrough was in the cap – how the product was dispensed. The metal sifter lids were the old standard. Spic and Span wanted their own cap, one that would help brand the product. By designing a direction sifter pattern to one end of the closure, the package now clearly had a premium value to the customer. Embossing the top of the lid with the name gave Spic and Span its identity.
