Australian Gold's Blend

“It’s Hip to Be Square”

As many other product design categories do, bottle design trends go down a similar path as automotive design does. Within the last two years, going from soft, organic shapes to hard-lined and simple geometric design lines we followed suit.

Considering this trend as a stepping-stone into Australian Gold’s new Blend launch, we started with a custom closure that really became the focal point in designing the bottle. The closure is about 1 ½” square and just over a ¼” tall. The upshot was a clean, tight rectangular design with the dispensing closure almost concealed by the package, which is directionally positioned to one end of the bottle. The sleek rectangular package almost calls to mind the popular phones and electronic devices of today and really helps the brand step out from the now dated looking soft, organic shaped competitors.

The design was a finalist in the International Package Design competition at the HBA Expo in 2008.
