“Branding by Ergonomics and Sustainability”
Breathe Right/CNC wanted TricorBraun Design to go ahead and stick their nose into their business with a project about ergonomics for a snap-on lid used on an inhaled vapor product.
The process of administering the product is to fill the supplied cup with hot water and drop a vapor tablet into the cup. Then the end user snaps the inhaler lid on. Once assembled, the user places the cup up to the mouth and nose area to inhale the product.
The ergonomic requirements were such that the lid needed to be comfortable when placed up to the face and allow the user to inhale the product through the lid’s open hole but not allow vapor to escape around the face.
A domed surface was created, using soft lines and avoiding sharp edges, forming a recessed elliptical pocket to fit the nose and seal and trap vapor when placed up to the face.
Not content with simply increasing the comfort in dispensing the product, TricorBraun Design proceeded to maximize the sustainability and ease of use of the package. They achieved both by removing the need to print “how to use” directions in the package.
How was that accomplished? By working in the instructions onto the lid’s design - it now visually showed how to use the dispensing apparatus. The through hole design transitioned into a recessed detent giving the user a visual queue for which end the nose goes into and where the mouth is placed.
